The real question is can you ignore the hype and look for a business plan that you will be able to stick with and make profitable. You can't believe anything, you must check and see for yourself if something sounds reasonable. You will find almost all of it is hype.
You must know what you are doing. Would you start a plumbing business if you couldn't thread a pipe, no, and it's no different with an online business.
You can make money with your own website if you know what you are doing. An online business requires a bit of know how and a great deal of work, especially in the set up stages.
There are too many Internet business plans out there that recruit you, get a little of your money, then toss you into the wind and expect you to fly. They make their money by recruiting and tossing.
